Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 143 words
Multipole electric circuit breaker, in particular with moulded casing, having a circuit-breaker unit (12) for housing the arcing contacts (30,32) and the operating mechanism (34) of said contacts and a removable trip unit (14) for housing the thermal (38) and/or magnetic (40) tripping elements associated with the different poles to control the mechanism (34) tripping, said trip unit (14) comprising for each pole a section (50) of power conductor (36) electrically series- connected by a disconnectable connection (42) to an associated section of conductor of the circuit-breaker unit (12) enclosing the arcing contacts (30,32), said tripping elements (38, 40) reacting at the over-currents and short-circuits of currents flowing through said conductors (36), characterized in that the disconnectable connection (42) of each conductor (36) shows a connection lug (44) making an acute angle with the trend of said conductors (36) in the circuit breaker.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 143 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 88 words
Circuit breaker according to Claim 1, in the general form of a parallelepiped in which the power conductors (36) extend parallelly to the base (16) of the circuit breaker, the trip unit (14) being fastened to one of the base (16) ends to form one of the narrow side faces of the circuit breaker, characterized by the fact that said connection lugs (44) form an acute angle with said base (16), so that the tightening pieces (54) of said connection lugs are accessible from said narrow side face.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 69 words
Circuit breaker according to one of Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that each disconnectable connection (42) comprises a tightening piece in two parts (54, 56), one (54) supported by the trip unit (14) and the other (56) by the circuit-breaker unit (12), so as to ensure the electrical connection and the mechanical fixing of the trip unit (14) on the circuit-breaker unit (12) at the time of tightening.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 45 words
Circuit breaker according to Claim 3, characterized in that the connection lugs (44) and the associated parts (56) of the tightening pieces carried by one of the units are elastically mounted thereon to compensate the positioning irregularities of the connection lugs of the different poles.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 90 words
Circuit breaker according to one of Claims 1, 2, 3 or 4, with a trip unit (14) forming one of the narrow side faces of the circuit breaker and supporting the output terminals (18) of the power conductors (36) which extend parallelly to the base (16), characterized by the fact that said disconnectable connections (42) are located in the lower part of the trip unit (14) and the fixing screws (54) associated with said connections are accessible from the narrow side face on the side of the output terminals (18).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 26 words
Circuit breaker according to any of the former claims, characterized by the fact that the angle made by the conection lugs (44) is close to 45°.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 67 words
Circuit breaker according to any of the former claims, characterized by the fact that each power conductor (36) of the trip unit (14) carries at one of its ends a first connection lug (18) of a connecting terminal of the circuit breaker, and at the opposite end a connection lug (48) to said circuit-breaker unit (12) placed in an oblique plane relative to the first lug (18).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 48 words
Circuit breaker according to any of the former claims, characterized by the fact that it comprises a terminal cover (22) capping in the same time the connecting terminals (18) of the circuit breaker and the connection screws (54) of the trip unit (14) to the circuit-breaker unit (12).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 34 words
Circuit breaker according to any of the former claims, characterized by the fact that a bimetallic strip (38) is built to a heater belonging to the power conductor (36) in the trip unit (14).
