Heart pace maker for bifocal stimulation of the heart
Abstract
Abstract In a heart pacemaker for bifocal stimulation of the heart, a pulse generator is used to deliver stimulation pulses to the atrium and, with a time delay, to the ventricle. The spontaneous activities of the atrium are recorded by means of a detector and are used for controlling the pulse generator. In order to match the haemodynamically effective PQ interval optimally to the activities in the atrium, according to the invention the electrical delay interval (AV interval) between an atrium activity and the stimulation pulse for the ventricle assumes two values (AV-I, AV-II), depending on whether it is a question of a spontaneous atrium activity or a stimulation pulse. The heart pacemaker contains a delay member (4) which releases the stimulation pulse for the ventricle after different intervals. <IMAGE>
