Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 32 words
A method for inhibiting B-D-galactosidase, characterized by bringing B-D-galactosidase and a chelating agent in contact with each other at an alkaline pH range other than the optimal pH range for β-D-galactosidase activity.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 32 words
A method for inhibiting B-D-galactosidase, characterized by bringing B-D-galactosidase and a chelating agent in contact with each other at an alkaline pH range other than the optimal pH range for β-D-galactosidase activity.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 28 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the chelating agent has 2 or more functional groups coordinating a metal ion by means of oxygen, nitrogen and/or sulfur atoms.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
A method according to claim 2 wherein the chelating agent is selected from ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, ethylenediamine, oxalic acid, oxines, amino'acids, acetylacetone, pyrophosphoric acid, hydroxylamine, chelating polymers, metal adsorbing polymers and salts and mixtures thereof.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 17 words
A method according to claim 3 wherein the chelating agent is ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid or a salt thereof.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 21 words
A method according to claims 3 or 4 wherein the salt is an alkali metal salt or a heavy metal salt.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 22 words
A method according to any one of claims 1 to 5 wherein a buffer is used in combination with the chelating agent.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 25 words
A method according to any one of claims 1 to 6 wherein the chelating agent is used in an amount of 1 mM or more.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 39 words
A method according to any one of claims 1 to 7 wherein the B-D-galactosidase and the chelating agent are brought into contact with each other at a pH of from 9 to 11.5, preferably of from 10 to 10.5.
Claim 10
Independent Claim 21 words
A method according to any one of claims 1 to 8 wherein the β-D-galactosidase is in free form or insolubilized form.
