N-substituted 2,4-diamino-m-xylols and hair colouring compositions containing them

Abstract Translated from German Neue 2,4-Diamino-m-Xylole der Formel worin eine der Gruppen R' oder R 2 Wasserstoff, die andere eine C 1-4 -Alkylgruppe, eine C 1-4 -Alkylsulfonylgruppe, eine C 2-4 -Mono- oder Dihydroxyalkylgruppe, eine C 1-4 -Alkoxy-C 2-4 -alkylgruppe oder eine C 2 - 4- Aminoalkylgruppe, die am N-Atom durch eine oder zwei C 1-4 -Alkylgruppen oder C 2-4 -Hydroxyalkylgruppen substituiert sein kann, bedeutet, sind geeignet als Kupplerkomponenten für Oxidations-Haarfärbemittel. Die Haarfärbemittel enthalten eine Kombination der neuen Kupplerkomponenten mit an sich bekannten Entwicklerkomponenten und ggf. bekannten Kupplersubstanzen in Mengen von 0,5 - 5 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das Haarfärbemittel. Die Haarfärbemittel liefern intensive Farbtöne mit grüngrauen und rotbraunen bis schwarzblauen und dunkelvioletten Nuancen mit guten Echtheitseigenschaften. New 2,4-diamino-m-xylenes of the formula wherein one of the groups R 'or R 2 is hydrogen, the other a C 1-4 alkyl group, a C 1-4 alkylsulfonyl group, a C 2-4 mono- or dihydroxyalkyl group, a C 1-4 alkoxy-C 2 -4- alkyl group or a C 2 - 4 aminoalkyl group, which may be substituted on the N atom by one or two C 1-4 alkyl groups or C 2-4 hydroxyalkyl groups, are suitable as coupler components for oxidation hair colorants. The hair colorants contain a combination of the new coupler components with developer components known per se and possibly known coupler substances in amounts of 0.5-5% by weight, based on the hair colorant. The hair dyes provide intense shades with green-gray and red-brown to black-blue and dark purple shades with good fastness properties.
