Abstract
Abstract In a method of moulding a ceramic core for use in the production of precision equipment separable die parts of resin are formed from a master model and resin oddsides are cast from the die parts. Further die parts formed from the oddsides are faced with nickel by electroforming and the faced die is then used for high speed injection moulding. Required slight changes in shape of the core can be obtained by altering the shape of the cast oddside and then casting new metal faced die parts.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
61 words
A method of moulding an article, said method comprising forming a die having separable first die parts, and being characterised by casting on oddside (16,18) from eoch of the first die parts (12,14), and, from each of the oddsides (16,18), facing a cast second die part (20,22) with metal by electroforming, and subsequently injection moulding the article in the faced die.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
61 words
A method of moulding an article, said method comprising forming a die having separable first die parts, and being characterised by casting on oddside (16,18) from eoch of the first die parts (12,14), and, from each of the oddsides (16,18), facing a cast second die part (20,22) with metal by electroforming, and subsequently injection moulding the article in the faced die.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
18 words
A method according to claim 1 charocterised in that the oddsides (16,18) are formed of a resin base.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
23 words
A method according to claim 1 or 2 characterised in that the second die parts (20,22) are faced with a coating of nickel.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
22 words
A method according to claim 3 characterised in that the coating of nickel is backed by copper and then backed by resin.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
19 words
A method according to any of the preceding claims characterised in that the metal facing is formed by electroforming.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
26 words
A method according to any of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the coating of nickel is backed by copper and then backed by steel.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
72 words
A method of moulding an article, said method comprising forming a die having separable first die ports, and being characterised by costing an oddside (36,38) from each of the first die parts (32,34) and facing the cost oddside (36,38) with metal, forming second die parts (40,42) of a stable free cutting material from the faced oddsides (36,38) and subsequently injection moulding the article in the die comprising the second die ports (40,42).
Claim 9
Independent Claim
72 words
A method of moulding an article, said method comprising forming a die having separable first die ports, and being characterised by costing an oddside (36,38) from each of the first die parts (32,34) and facing the cost oddside (36,38) with metal, forming second die parts (40,42) of a stable free cutting material from the faced oddsides (36,38) and subsequently injection moulding the article in the die comprising the second die ports (40,42).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
19 words
A method according to claim 7, characterised in thot the oddsides (36,38) are foced with a coating of copper.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
16 words
A method according to claim 8, charocterised in that the copper coating is backed by resin.
Claim 12
Independent Claim
23 words
A method according to any of claims 7 to 9, characterised in that the second die parts (40,42) are produced by spark erosion.
