Tensioning device with a bone fastening plate
Abstract
The invention represents a clamping device for osteosynthesis plates, which is fixed in the middle of the plate and cooperates with an elongated hole. The tensioning device itself consists of two parts which are movable relative to one another, one part being able to be displaced with respect to the other by shortening or lengthening by means of a gear arrangement and via a pivot pin. As a result of this process, the bone fragments are either distracted or, in the opposite direction of rotation, the bone fragments are brought together and pressed together. The advantage of this invention is that due to the central arrangement of the tensioning device on the osteosynthesis plate, the usual extension of the surgical wound is eliminated. In addition, no other tools are required to perform the distraction or compression process. The handling of the apparatus is very simple, since the osteosynthesis plate with the clamping device is supplied during the osteosynthesis process and the distraction or compression process can now only be carried out with the wrench with which the bone screws are otherwise screwed in. At the end of the clamping process, the clamping device can be easily removed from the osteosynthesis plate by loosening a screw.
