Water-borne alkyde resin and polyacrylate resin compositions, and their use as paint binders

Abstract Translated from German Es werden Bindemittel für ofentrocknende Wasserlacke auf Alkydacrylatbasis bereitgestellt, die keine unter Einbrennbedingungen flüchtigen Amine oder Hilfslösungsmittel und höchstens solche Emulgatoren enthalten, die beim Einbrennen ihre Ausgangshydrophilie verlieren. Dazu werden bekannte wässrige Alkydharz-Dispersionen, die diesen Anforderungen genügen, als "Lösungsmittel" für die Acrylat-Polymerisation eingesetzt, ohne daß weitere Hilfsstoffe benötigt werden. Binders for oven-drying water-based paints based on alkyd acrylate are provided which contain no amines or auxiliary solvents which are volatile under baking conditions and at most those emulsifiers which lose their initial hydrophilicity when baked on. For this purpose, known aqueous alkyd resin dispersions which meet these requirements are used as "solvents" for the acrylate polymerization, without the need for further auxiliaries.
