Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 343 words
An electronic diagnostic monitoring system for a motor vehicle, comprising a plurality of control computers (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) each separately controlling an object part of the motor vehicle in accordance with a predetermined control program and each including means for detecting an abnormal operation in the control process of said object part in accordance with a diagnostic program forming a part of said predetermined control program and for generating abnormality signals, central supervisory means (6) for performing a centralized supervisory control in response to the generated abnormality signals separately for each of said control computers, and display means (7, 8) inside the vehicle, characterized in that said central supervisory means (6) is further provided for storing abnormality data corresponding to the generated abnormality signals in each of first and second memory areas (ADR 1+0 ―ADR 1+n , ADR 2+0 -ADR 2+n ) separately for each of said control computers (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d), to reset abnormality data in said first memory area (ADR 1+0 ―ADR 1+n ) at a first predetermined time after the last generation of the respective abnormality signal, and to reset the corresponding abnormality data in said second memory area (ADRZ +o -ADR 2+" ) at a second predetermined time later than said first predetermined time; in that said central supervisory means (6), upon the operation of externally operable means (1 a, 1 b, 1 c), generates first and second display commands corresponding to the occurrence of abnormality data; and in that said display means (7, 8) is responsive to said first display command for displaying first abnormal conditions in accordance with the abnormality data stored in said first memory area (ADR 1+0 ―ADR 1+n ) and responsive to said second display command, for displaying either only second abnormal conditions in accordance with the abnormality data stored in said second memory area (ADR 2+o -ADR 2+n ) or the abnormal conditions in accordance with abnormality data stored in both said first and second memory areas (ADR 1+0 ―ADR 1+n , ADR 2 , 0 -ADR 2 , n )-
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 343 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that said display means (7, 8) responds to said second display command to display a warning that the displayed abnormal conditions are currently existing continuously.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 119 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that each of said control computers (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) generates a respective abnormality signal suggesting a location where the abnormal condition is caused, said central supervisory means (6) responds to the respective abnormality signals to store abnormality data in said first and second memory areas (ADR 1+0 ―ADR 1+n , ADR 2+o -ADR 2+n ) also separately for each location of abnormal condition, and said display means (7, 8) responds to said stored abnormality data to display the first and second abnormal condition items by displaying in addition to a symbol indicating the corresponding control computer (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) another symbol indicating the location of the corresponding abnormal condition.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 46 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that said display means (7, 8) responds to the abnormality data stored in said central supervisory means (6) by displaying a plurality of abnormal condition items of the first or second abnormal conditions sequentially in a predetermined order.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 92 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that each of the control computers (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) includes means for generating a condition signal indicative of the operating condition of the respective object part, said display means (7, 8) displays the operating condition of the object part in dependence upon the generated condition signal, and said display means (7, 8) responds to said first or second display command to display the corresponding abnormal condition in the central process in place of the preceding display of a respective object part operating condition.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 57 words
A system according to claim 1, characterized in that said central supervisory means (6) ranks significances of the stored abnormality data corresponding to the abnormality signals from said control computers (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d) and discriminates an abnormal condition caused with a high-ranking significance to cause said display means (7, 8) to display a corresponding warning display.
