Method and device for detecting abnormal combustion phenomena in an internal combustion engine.
Abstract
Method for detecting abnormal combustion phenomena in an internal combustion engine and device for implementing the method according to which a characteristic parameter of the combustion process is detected using a sensor, preferably a temperature sensor. light. To distinguish abnormal phenomena from normal combustion phenomena, the filtered signal is analyzed from the point of view of its symmetry with respect to an imaginary axis of symmetry passing through the maximum point of the signal. If it follows that the signal is not symmetrical with respect to this axis, a signal identifying abnormal combustion is emitted. To implement this method, a symmetry pulse is generated which marks the appearance of the signal maximum. As a function of this pulse two quantities are produced, one characterizing the shape of the signal before, the other the shape of the signal after the maximum, and these quantities are compared with each other.
