Claim 1
Independent Claim 68 words
1 . A thermal bonded nonwoven fabric having a bulk density of from 0.01 to 0.15 grams per cubic centimeter, and comprising thermal bonded polyester/polyethylene conjugate fibers, said fabric. having an excellent combination of strength, low bulk density, and softness, wherein the birefringence of the polyester in the fibers of said fabric is not significantly different from that of the polyester in the fibers prior to thermal bonding.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 68 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 55 words
A thermal bonded nonwoven fabric having a bulk density of from 0.01 to 0.15 grams per cubic centimeter, and comprising thermal bonded polyester/polyethylene conjugate fibers, said fabric having an excellent combination of strength, low bulk density, and softness, wherein the birefringence of the polyester in the fibers of said fabric is at least about. 0.16.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 55 words
A thermal bonded nonwoven fabric having a bulk density of from 0.01 to 0.15 grams per cubic centimeter, and comprising thermal bonded polyester/polyethylene conjugate fibers, said fabric having an excellent combination of strength, low bulk density, and softness, wherein the birefringence of the polyester in the fibers of said fabric is at least about. 0.16.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
The fabric of claim 1 or 2 wherein the polyester/ polyethylene conjugate fibers have polyester cores and polyethylene sheaths.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 38 words
The fabric of any one of claims 1to 3 wherein the polyethylene component of said conjugate fiber has a density of at least about 0.94 grams per cubic centimeter and a melt index of at least about 10.
Claim 7
