Abstract
Abstract A forceps raiser for raising up a treatment instrument, i.e., forceps (16), is composed of a shape memory alloy plate varying in shape in accordance with temperature. A power source (20) is connected to the shape memory alloy plate to supply a current to the shape memory alloy plate (17), thereby heating the shape memory alloy plate (17), and the shape memory alloy plate (17), i.e., the forceps raiser is varied in shape to raise the forceps (16).

A treatment instrument driving device comprising: a treatment driving member (17) protruded into the treatment instrument closet (14) provided in a distal portion (6) of an endoscope (1), provided adjacent to a channel (15) provided in the endoscope (1) in which is inserted detachably a treatment instrument (16), and formed of a shape memory alloy varying in shape in accordance with temperature, and means (20) connected to said treatment driving member for supplying a current to said treatment driving member (17) to raise the temperature of said treatment driving member (17), thereby displacing the treatment instrument (16) according to the varying of the shape of said treatment driving member (17).
