Abstract
Abstract A sealing structure of the piston (12) for an internal combustion engine, in which two piston rings (20, 22) are disposed within a groove (14) and are freely movable with respect to one another and with respect to the groove. One of the piston rings (20) is adapted to introduce lubricant oil into the groove (14) during the piston up-stroke and the other ring (22) is adapted to introduce the oil into the groove (14) in the piston downstroke. The piston rings reduce the space therebetween to force the lubricant oil in the groove into the space between the piston ring and the cylinder wall at approximately top dead centre.
