Cold application and compressive bandage

Claim 2

A bandage (10) for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprising: an elongate strip (12) of elastic material for wrapping around a portion of a body; a pocket (8) in one end of the strip with an opening (22) at the terminal end of the strip providing access to the interior of the pocket; a refrigerant pack (14) removably placed inside the pocket, the pack including an extension tab (26) projecting outwardly through the opening and adapted to be grasped by the user during wrapping of the bandage; and means (16) for retaining the pack inside the pocket during use.

Claim 3

A bandage according to claim 1, wherein the pack (14) is made from flexible material.

Claim 4

A bandage according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the pack has a refrigerant material sealed therein which has a soft, gel-like consistency over a temperature range of -20°C to +21°C.

Claim 5

A bandage according to claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein the tab (26) is integrally formed with the pack.

Claim 6

A bandage according to any preceding claim, wherein the means for retaining includes at least two fasteners (16) on the terminal end of the strip spaced sufficiently apart from each,other to allow the tab to project therebetween when said fasteners are closed.

Claim 7

A bandage according to claim 5, wherein the fasteners are snap-type fasteners adapted to be readily opened and closed for repeated usage.

Claim 8

A bandage for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprising: an elastic material (12) for wrapping around a portion of body; a refrigerant pack (14) including tab means (26) thereon; and . means (16) for removably holding the pack on the material during use so that the tab means is accessible for grasping by the user.

A bandage for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprising: an elastic material (12) for wrapping around a portion of body; a refrigerant pack (14) including tab means (26) thereon; and . means (16) for removably holding the pack on the material during use so that the tab means is accessible for grasping by the user.

Claim 10

A bandage according to claim 7, wherein the means for holding includes a pocket (18) into which the refrigerant pack is removably placed.

Claim 11

A bandage according to claim 7 or 8, wherein the tab means extends beyond a terminal end of the material.

Claim 12

A bandage for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprising: an elongate strip (12) of elastic material for wrapping around a portion of a body; an elongate pocket (18) in one end of the strip with an opening (22) at the terminal end of the strip; a refrigerant pack (14) flexible over a temperature range of -20°C to +21°C and removably placed inside the pocket, the pack including an integrally formed tab (26) projecting outwardly through the opening and adapted to be grasped by the user during wrapping of the bandage; and at least two operable fasteners (16) on the terminal end of the strip spaced sufficiently apart from each other to allow the tab to project therebetween when the fasteners are closed and to retain the pack inside the pocket during use.

Claim 13

A bandage for the simultaneous application of cold therapy and compression comprising: an elongate strip (12) of elastic material for wrapping around a portion of a body; an elongate pocket (18) in one end of the strip with an opening (22) at the terminal end of the strip; a refrigerant pack (14) flexible over a temperature range of -20°C to +21°C and removably placed inside the pocket, the pack including an integrally formed tab (26) projecting outwardly through the opening and adapted to be grasped by the user during wrapping of the bandage; and at least two operable fasteners (16) on the terminal end of the strip spaced sufficiently apart from each other to allow the tab to project therebetween when the fasteners are closed and to retain the pack inside the pocket during use.
