Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim
90 words
Process for the preparation of composite polymers containing active hydrogen atoms capable of reaction with isocyanate groups, which comprises polymerizing one or more olefinically unsaturated compounds in the presence of a liquid polymer containing active hydrogen atoms and a modified initiator; the modification comprising reacting an organic hydroperoxide initiator or a free radical initiator which additionally contains reactive hydrogen atoms with a compound containing two or more isocyanate groups and contacting the partially converted compound with a liquid polymer containing one or more groups which can react with isocyanate groups.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
66 words
Process according to claim 1, wherein one or more olefinically unsaturated compounds are polymerized in the presence of a liquid polyol and a modified initiator; the modification comprising the reaction between a liquid polymer containing one or more groups which can react with isocyanate groups and a compound containing two or more isocyanate groups which has been partially converted by reacting it with an organic hydroperoxide.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
Process according to claim 1 or 2, wherein as olefinically unsaturated compound are used styrene, acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate or 4-vinylpyridine, or mixtures of at least two of such olefinically unsaturated compounds.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
35 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the olefinically unsaturated compounds are polymerized in the presence of liquid polyethers, polyesters or polydiolefins containing one or more hydroxyl, amino, hydrocarbylamino or carboxyl groups.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
26 words
Process according to claim 4, wherein the olefinically unsaturated compounds are polymerized in the presence of a liquid polyether polyol, polyester polyol or polyether polyester polyol.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
48 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the polymerization is carried out in such a way that the final composite polymer contains an amount of polymer in the range of from 1 % w to 40% w, calculated on the total weight of composite polymer.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
25 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein between 40 and 60% of the isocyanate groups originally present is converted into peroxycarbamate linkages.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
18 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein as organic hydroperoxide an aliphatic hydroperoxide is used.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
30 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the modified initiator is prepared in the initial presence of both the monomer to be polymerized and the liquid polymer.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
22 words
Process according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the polymerization is carried out at a temperature between 60°C and 160°C.
