Power plant and process utilizing solar energy
Abstract
Abstract Translated from English Installation de production d'energie electrique et procedes d'exploitation de source d'energie a expansion gazeuse. Installation for producing electrical energy and methods for operating a gas expanding energy source. A piston (13, 13a, 13c, 13d and 13e) containing a magnet (38) and able to fall freely inside a closed cylinder (12, 12a, 12c, 12d and 12e), having a central part (15 ) surrounded by an induction coil (19) is repeatedly pushed upward, thereby inducing alternating electric current in the coil (19). In a preferred embodiment, a mixture of fuel and air is ignited below the piston (13), and in response to the upward displacement of the piston, compressed air is pumped into a reservoir (14) . In a first alternative embodiment, the fuel is ignited at the two ends of the cylinder, in a second mode, the heat produced by concentrated solar energy is directed onto a liquid (47) on the bottom of the cylinder (12c), in a third mode, hydrogen is burnt below the piston (13d) to create heat which vaporizes water, and in a fourth mode, hydrogen is burnt at both ends of the cylinder (12e ).
