Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
97 words
Seat having a seat cushion and a seat back, the seat back being changeable in angular position with respect to the seat cushion, the seat being characterized in that it comprises : (a) an armrest connected to the seat back in such a manner as to be changeable in angular position with respect to the seat back ; and (b) a locking device releasably fastening the armrest to the seat back in such a manner as to selectably fix the armrest in any one of more than two preset angular positions with respect to the seat back.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
34 words
Seat as recited in claim 1, characterized in that the preset angular positions of the armrest include a retracted position where the armrest is adjacent and parallel to one side of the seat back.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
81 words
Seat as recited in claim 1, characterized in that the locking device includes a tab and the armrest has a set of holes, the tab being movably connected to the seat back and being insertable into any one of the holes so that the tab will releasably fasten the armrest to the seat back, whereby a change of the holes into which the tab is inserted causes a change in angular position of the armrest with respect to the seat back.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
30 words
Seat as recited in claim 3, characterized in that the seat back has a sleeve extending through the armrest so as to allow the armrest to rotate about the sleeve.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
84 words
Seat as recited in claim 4, characterized in that the locking device further includes a lock plate, a spring, and a shaft, the lock plate being provided with the tab, the spring urging the lock plate and the tab toward the armrest, the shaft being connected to the lock plate and slideably extending through the sleeve so that the tab can be displaced from the hole in the armrest by shifting the shaft to move the lock plate against the force of the spring.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
38 words
Seat as recited in claim 5, characterized in that the seat back further has a side bracket provided therethrough with an aperture, the tab extending through the aperture so as to be movably connected to the seat back.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
30 words
Seat as recited in claim 6, characterized in that the armrest has a stopper engageable with the tab so as to be able to stop the rotation of the armrest.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
27 words
Seat as recited in claim 6, characterized in that the shaft has a button at the end so as to be easily shifted by pushing the button.
