Cable element and fibre-optical cable resistent against high tensions and/or elevated pressures, and process for its manufacture
Abstract
Abstract Such a cable element comprises a plurality of wires (2) cabled helically or with alternating pitch in order to form a rigid assembly, the wires (2) having between them at least one gap (6) and at least one optical fibre (3) arranged in at least one gap (6) between the wires (2). According to an alternative embodiment, the wires are cabled about a generally metal, solid central core (1). The wires can also be metal, as can a sheathing arranged around the cable element. A thermoplastic material or a glue can be employed in order to unite the wires (2). The manufacturing process consists in cabling a plurality of wires (2) to form a rigid assembly and in arranging at least one optical fibre (3) in at least one gap. <IMAGE>
