Abstract

Abstract An image scanning method, for producing an image signal indicative of the intensity of adjacent element parts of the image, comprising displacing an array of detectors over the image transversely to a direction of alignment of the detectors in the array and repeatedly transferring into said image signal element signals serially supplied from successive detectors of the array, such element signal being indicative of the intensity of an element part of the image being scanned by the corresponding detector, characterized in that said array comprises a series of odd detectors and a series of even detectors, the detector in each series being aligned along said direction and intercalated between adjacent detectors of the other series, and in that the element signals from the odd detectors are transferred in sequence alternatively with a sequence of the element signals from the even detectors.

An image scanning method, for producing an image signal indicative of the intensity of adjacent element parts of the image, comprising displacing an array of detectors over the image transversely to a direction of alignment of the detectors in the array and repeatedly transferring into said image signal element signals serially supplied from successive detectors of the array, each element signal being indicative of the intensity of an element part of the image being scanned by the corresponding detector, characterized in that said array comprises a series of odd detectors and a series of even detectors, the detectors in each series being aligned along said direction and intercalated between adjacent detectors of the other series, and in that the element signals from the odd detectors are transferred in sequence alternatively with a sequence of the element signals from the even detectors.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 54 words
A method according to claim 1 characterized in that the odd and even detectors are aligned in the array and the sampling of the element signals is timely controlled so that the time interval between sampling adjacent odd and even detectors is half the time interval between successive sampling sequences of the complete array.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 62 words
A method according to claim 2 characterized in that said element signals are serially supplied by sampling in sequence each successive odd detector of a bottom half of said array alternately with each successive even detector of a top half cf said array and each successive odd detector of said top half alternately with each successive .even detector of said bottom half.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 66 words
A method according to claim 1 characterized in that the array comprises a series of equally spaced odd detectors and a series of equally spaced even detectors, each series being laterally offset from the other half the distance between successive detectors in the series and the element signals are sampled in sequence from all successive odd detectors and alternately in sequence from all successive even detectors.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 106 words
An image scanning device, characterized in that it comprises an array (3) of light sensitive detectors comprising intercalated odd and even detectors, said odd detectors and said even detectors being aligned parallel to a common direction, means for displacing said array over an image transversely to said direction, means for repeatedly sampling element signals from said detectors, each indicative of the light intensity detected by a corresponding detector over an element part of the image, and means for serially transferring into an image signal (J) alternately said element signals sampled from said odd detectors in sequence and said element signals from said even detectors in sequence.
Claim 7
