Abstract

Abstract A weighstation which includes a weighbeam and is arranged to provide indications of axle loadings of a vehicle as the vehicle passes over it has a transmitting and receiving unit which is adapted for cooperation with a remote controller situated in the cab of a vehicle. The remote controller is arranged to initiate the operation of the weighstation and for this purpose transmits by way of an infra-red link a command signal and a further set of signals denoting the number of axles possessed by the vehicle. The unit in the weighstation provides as the vehicle passes over the weighbeam signals denoting the axle loadings of the vehicle and transmits these signals to the remote controller together with further signals which are used by the remote controller to provide a visible indication in the cab of the vehicle of the axle loadings of the vehicle and such further information as may be desired, such as time of day.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 70 words
A remote controller for a weighstation, the controller being adapted for incorporation in a vehicle and comprising : means for transmitting signals to the weighstation, the signals including a command signal and a signal denoting the number of axles possessed by the vehicle; means for receiving signals from the weighstation and means for processing the received signals to provide representations of the loading of the various axles of the vehicle.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 70 words
A remote controller for a weighstation, the controller being adapted for incorporation in a vehicle and comprising : means for transmitting signals to the weighstation, the signals including a command signal and a signal denoting the number of axles possessed by the vehicle; means for receiving signals from the weighstation and means for processing the received signals to provide representations of the loading of the various axles of the vehicle.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 50 words
A weighstation comprising: a weighbeam; a receiver arranged to receive a command signal from a remote transmitter; means coupled to the beam and responsive to the command signal to provide signals denoting the axle loadings of the vehicle; and a transmitter for transmitting the latter signals to the remote controller.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 50 words
A weighstation comprising: a weighbeam; a receiver arranged to receive a command signal from a remote transmitter; means coupled to the beam and responsive to the command signal to provide signals denoting the axle loadings of the vehicle; and a transmitter for transmitting the latter signals to the remote controller.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 84 words
A weighstation comprising: a dynamic axle weighbeam; means for converting signals from said weighbeam to digital signals; means for storing said digital signals; a receiver arranged to receive infra-red signals from a vocal transmitter in the vicinity of the weighstation; a transmitter arranged to transmit signals to the said vehicle; and data processing means coupled to the transmitter and receiver and arranged on receipt of a signal from the receiver to provide to said transmitter signals denoting axle weights as measured by the weighbeam.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 84 words
A weighstation comprising: a dynamic axle weighbeam; means for converting signals from said weighbeam to digital signals; means for storing said digital signals; a receiver arranged to receive infra-red signals from a vocal transmitter in the vicinity of the weighstation; a transmitter arranged to transmit signals to the said vehicle; and data processing means coupled to the transmitter and receiver and arranged on receipt of a signal from the receiver to provide to said transmitter signals denoting axle weights as measured by the weighbeam.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 52 words
In a weighstation as set forth in claim 3, a transmitter comprising means for generating signals in the frequency range 20 to 50 kilohertz, means for gating said signals in accordance with a serial signal representing data to be transmitted; and means for producing infra-red signals in response to the gated signals.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 63 words
A receiver for use in a weighstation system including a weighstation adapted to transmit and receive infra-red signals and a remote controller ihcorporated in a vehicle and including means for transmitting and receiving infra-red signals; a receiver comprising an input amplifier, a resonating amplifier having a capacitative input impedance and a resistive feedback impedance, a further amplifier, and a full wave rectifying demodulator.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 63 words
A receiver for use in a weighstation system including a weighstation adapted to transmit and receive infra-red signals and a remote controller ihcorporated in a vehicle and including means for transmitting and receiving infra-red signals; a receiver comprising an input amplifier, a resonating amplifier having a capacitative input impedance and a resistive feedback impedance, a further amplifier, and a full wave rectifying demodulator.
