Process for increasing the wettability of substrates
Abstract
Difficult or non-wettable substrates, in particular substrates in solid, gel-like or glass-like form, are made wettable by adding at least one organometallic compound of an element of the IV which serves as an active substance and serves to increase the energy of the substrate and is not soluble in the substrate Main or subgroup of the periodic table of the elements in an amount which brings about a noticeable increase in energy and thus an increase in the surface tension of the substrate, but does not cause any significant change in the substrate structure, and in the substrate uniformly with the formation of finely divided point-like aggregates, the particle size of which is preferably in the range from 10- 4 to 10- 7 cm. With the help of this method, substrates, in particular those which are subject to a high mechanical load, for. B. vehicle tires and tool and machine parts, not only superficially, but to make them continuous and thus permanently wettable. In addition, this process enables suspensions to be stabilized permanently.
