Abstract

Abstract A data processing system having a main storage (20), a buffer storage (12) and a control unit (14) for controlling read and write operations of the main storage and the buffer storage is disclosed. When a data requested by a basic processing unit (11) is not in the buffer storage, a block of data is transferred from the main storage to the control unit in a plurality of times each together with a first access request in order to write the block of data from the main storage in the buffer storage. The basic processing unit issues a second access request to the control unit to read or write data from or in the buffer storage. The control unit accepts the second request between the sequential first access requests.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 138 words
A data processing system comprising: a main storage (20) sectioned into blocks each including a plurality of data bytes for storing a number of data; a buffer storage (12) for storing a copy of one of the blocks of said main storage as a unit; control means (14) for controlling read and write operations of said main storage and said buffer storage; said main storage transferring a block of data to said control means in a plurality of times each together with a first access request to write the block of data in said buffer storage; processor means (11) for issuing a second access request to said control means to read or write data from or in said buffer storage; said control means including means (Fig. 7) for accepting said second request between the sequential first access requests.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 138 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
A data processing system according to Claim 1 wherein said control means includes register means (36, 37) for buffering data transferred in n times from said main storage, and said accepting means includes means (81, 84) for accepting as the first access request one for every n first access requests transferred.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
A data processing system according to Claim 2 wherein said buffer storage writes the data transferred in n cycles in one access cycle.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
A data processing system according to Claim 3 wherein said accepting means accepts said second access request before the n first access requests have been transferred.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 34 words
A data processing system according to Claim 4 wherein said accepting means (82) inhibits the acceptance of said second access request when the n first access requests have been accepted as one access request.
