Abstract

The invention relates to a common cooling circuit for the internal combustion engine and the charge air, the internal combustion engine being cooled at a higher temperature level via a main cooler (2) and the charge air being cooled at a lower temperature level via an auxiliary cooler (4). The entire quantity of coolant emerging from the internal combustion engine (1) is first passed through the main cooler (2) and then divided into two partial flows (16, 17), one of which flows (16) via the secondary cooler (4) and the charge air cooler (5 ) guided and combined with the other partial flow (17) before entering the internal combustion engine (1). The entire amount of coolant thus runs through the main cooler (2) and internal combustion engine (1), while only a partial flow (16) flows through the secondary cooler (4).
