Abstract
Abstract An optical coupling device for coupling an optical fiber (20) to a photo-semiconductor element (10) wherein the light emitting end of the optical fiber (20) is disposed in spaced relation to the light sensitive area (18) of the photo-semiconductor element (10) includes a light transmitting transparent resin (21) completely filling the space between the end of the optical fiber (20) and the light sensitive area (18) of the photo-semiconductor element (10) and a light reflecting resin film (22) completely covering the exposed surface of the transparent resin (21).

1 . An optical coupling device for a photo-semiconductor element (10) and an optical fiber (20) wherein one end of said optical fiber (20) is disposed opposite the light sensitive area (18) of said photo-semiconductor element (10) with a space therebetween, said light sensitive area (18) being covered with a reflection preventing film (19) adapted to transmit light and to prevent optical reflection to permit said light sensitive area (18) to receive light emitted from the end face (20a) of said optical fiber (20), characterized by a transparent light transmitting resin (21) completely filling the space between said end face (20a) of said optical fiber (20) and said light sensitive area (18) of said photo-semiconductor element (10) and a film (22) of light reflecting resin completely covering the exposed surface of said transparent resin (21) thereby preventing light from escaping outwardly through the space between the end face (20a) of said optical fiber (20) and said light sensitive area (18) of said photo-semiconductor element (10).
