Abstract

Circuit for reducing low frequency noise signals in a DC biased superconducting quantum interference device (10). A square wave (IO) bias signal having no DC component is used to bias the two junctions (12, 14) of the DC "SQUID" (10). At the same time, the magnetic flux in the "SQUID" is modulated (32, 52) to heterodyne the input signals up to a certain suitable frequency where they can be amplified without affecting the drift. One of the final modulations (48) automatically takes into account the fact that the relative phase is reversed each time the polarization of square waves (IO) changes state of polarity.
