Device for the detection of faults in a metallic product by means of eddy currents
Abstract
The metal product (2), which is for example a round bar passing through a straightener with a helical movement, passes in front of at least one point probe (1 <a>, 1 <b>) comprising two windings in series. The two windings (6,7) are arranged asymmetrically with respect to the product (2) to be checked, an alternating electro-magnetic field is symmetrically produced in these two windings, the voltage induced at the terminals of the two windings is measured, and detects the variations of the argument of the rotating vector representative of this tension compared to the vector inductive tension. This non-destructive testing method is reliable, does not present any risk of deterioration of the probe and makes it possible to inspect almost the entire length of the product.
