A connector (12) for receiving and electrically connecting a ceramic substrate (16) or like device having a plurality of pins (18) depending therefrom to a printed circuit board (10) or the like, said connector (12) characterised by: a. a housing (22) of insulating material having a plurality of cavities (52) extending thereinto from the upper surface (46) thereof, a passage (60) from each cavity (52) extending to and opening out on the underside (62) of the housing (22); b. a cover (24) of insulating material slidably mounted on the upper surface (46) of the housing (22) and having a plurality of slots (86) extending upwardly into the cover (24) from its underside and a plurality of openings (78) extending downwardly from the upper surface of the cover (24) and intersecting the slots (86), said slots (86) and openings (78) being positioned in the cover (24) in the same pattern as the cavities (52) in the housing(22); c. a plurality of contacts (26) stamped and formed from conductive material and having: i. means (92) adapted for being electrically connected to a printed circuit board (10) or the like, ii. a fixed arm (102) having a lower portion (110) attached to and extending generally upwardly from said means (92) and a free end (114) bent in to lie generally at about a right angle to the lower portion (110), iii. an elongated web (96) attached to one edge of the lower portion (110) of the fixed arm (102) and extending therearound with the free end (100) being adjacent to the opposite edge of the lower portion (110), and , iv. a movable arm (104) attached to and extending upwardly from the web adjacent the free end (100) thereof, said movable arm (104) extending above and being generally normal to the free end (114) of the fixed arm and adjacent thereto, said contacts (26) being positioned in the cavities (52) in the housing (22) with said means (92) extending there- before for attachment to a printed circuit board (10) or the like and the movable arm (104) extending up into the slots (86) in the cover (24), so that upon sliding the cover (24), the movable arms (104) are drawn away from the fixed arms (102) to admit therebetween the pins (18) on a ceramic substrate (16) or the like for electrical contact therewith.
