Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 74 words
An anhydrous battery or cell comprising an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte in solution in an anhydrous solvent which is inert with respect to the cathode and anode, characterised in that the cathode comprises a mixture of polyacetylene and from 5-75% by weight based on the weight of the mixture of an electrically conductive material, the said polyacetylene either being p-doped prior to assembly or which becomes p-doped upon contact with the electrolyte.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 74 words
An anhydrous battery or cell comprising an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte in solution in an anhydrous solvent which is inert with respect to the cathode and anode, characterised in that the cathode comprises a mixture of polyacetylene and from 5-75% by weight based on the weight of the mixture of an electrically conductive material, the said polyacetylene either being p-doped prior to assembly or which becomes p-doped upon contact with the electrolyte.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
A battery or cell according to claim 1, wherein the electrically conductive material has a conductivity of at least 10 -6 (ohm-cm) l.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
A battery or cell according to claim 2, wherein the electrically conductive material is carbon black, graphite or acetylene black or a mixture of two or more thereof.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
A battery or cell according to claim 3, wherein the electrically conductive material is carbon black and/or graphite.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
A battery or cell according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein-the cathode is formed from an intimate mixture of polyacetylene powder and said electrically conductive material in powder form.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A battery or cell according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the anode is lithium, aluminum, sodium or magnesium.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
A battery or cell according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the electrolyte is a salt of the same metal as that of the anode.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 26 words
A battery or cell according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the electrolyte is a perchlorate, tetrafluoroborate, hexafluorophosphate, hexafluoroarsenate, hexafluoroantimonate, fluorosulfonate or trifluoromethane sulfonate.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 37 words
A battery or cell according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the anhydrous solvent is propylene carbonate, sulfolane, dimethoxyethane, bis(methoxyethyl) ether, dioxane, 3-methylsulfolane, tetrahydrofuran, 2-methyl tetrahydrofuran, dioxolane, ethylene carbonate, methyl formate, butyrolactone or dimethyl sulfile.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 26 words
A battery or cell according to any one of claims 1-8, wherein the anode is lithium, the electrolyte is lithium hexafluorophosphate and the solvent is sulfolane.
