Process for the communal preparation of C4-oligomers and alkyl-tert.-butyl ethers
Abstract
Abstract C4-oligomers and alkyl tert-butyl ethers can be prepared by reaction of isobutene with alkanols in the liquid phase at 20 to 140 DEG C, oligomerisation and ether formation occurring simultaneously. This reaction is carried out in the presence of a microporous or gel- like acidic cation exchanger in the H<+> form, which contains 0.05 to 5 g of one or more metals of the VIIth and/or VIIIth sub-group of the periodic table of the elements in elemental form per litre of dry cation exchanger. The cation exchanger has a degree of cross-linking in the range from 2 to 65 % and a specific surface area in the range from 5 to 750 m<2>/g of dry exchanger resin.
