Oscillation mechanism for the rectilinear reciprocating movement of a matrix printer carriage
Abstract
Pendulum mechanisms for straight forward and backward movements are e.g. used in printers, in particular in matrix printers of the carriage type with print hammers, and are connected to a drive for the gradual movement of organs of the printer back and forth in the line direction at constant speed and to a step-by-step recordable medium perpendicular to the line direction. In such cases, the part of the printing mechanism that needs to be moved is mounted on a carriage and the carriage itself is moved by means of a reciprocating device. With shuttle systems that use constant speed motors, the position of the printer carriage must be determined continuously and the position information must be used to synchronize the excitation of the pressure element actuations. In order to avoid a non-linear path-time curve, with which relatively expensive position sensing and / or control circuits are required, which precisely control the respective position of the pendulum mechanism, it is proposed that the drive for the back and forth movement by means of a first, to a rotary drive (33) for constant rotational speed connected elliptical two-lobed drive element (41; 41a; 41b; 61) second order and by means of a second elliptical two-lobed drive element (45; 45a; 45b; 73) of the same size that the first and the second elliptical two-lobed drive element (41; 41a, 41 b; 61; 45; 45a 45b; 73) with their main ellipse axes in one of the basic positions are 90 ° out of phase with one another, so that connecting means are provided for the first and second elliptical two-lobed drive element and that the second elliptical two-lobed drive element (45; 45a; 45b; 73) with an eccentrically fastened member (27; 47a, 47b; 77) is connected to the organ to be moved (11; 11a, 11b). These are elliptical, second-order wheels with two cams (cams), which are connected to each other either directly or with a 90 ° phase offset. One wheel is rotated at a constant speed and the other is eccentrically connected to the carriage (11), which is to be moved in two directions at a constant speed (47).
