Abstract

Abstract The device comprises a carriage (20) mobile radially relative to the disk (10), and on which lower and upper opposing magnetic heads (30) and (37) are mounted, each for recording and/or reading a corresponding disk face. The upper magnetic head (37) is resiliently mounted at the end of an arm (36) pivoted to the carriage (20) and is urged against the disk with a predetermined load determined by a spring (43). A flexible joint (38) enables it to rotate in all directions about a central support (41). The lower magnetic head (30) is connected to the carriage by means of a pair of parallel leaf springs (32) which enable it to move along an axis normal to the plane of the disk without rotation, whereby both heads maintain good contact regardless of the height of the nominal plane of the disk (10).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 111 words
Device for recording and/or reading binary data on both faces of a flexible magnetic disk comprising a carriage mobile radially to the disk, a first magnetic head resiliently mounted at the end of an arm pivoted to said carriage in order to cooperate with a first face of the disk, and a second magnetic head mounted in an opposing position to said first head in order to cooperate with a second face of the disk, characterised in that the second head (37) is connected to the carriage (20) by resilient means (32) which enables it to move along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the disk (10), substantially without rotating.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 111 words
Device for recording and/or reading binary data on both faces of a flexible magnetic disk comprising a carriage mobile radially to the disk, a first magnetic head resiliently mounted at the end of an arm pivoted to said carriage in order to cooperate with a first face of the disk, and a second magnetic head mounted in an opposing position to said first head in order to cooperate with a second face of the disk, characterised in that the second head (37) is connected to the carriage (20) by resilient means (32) which enables it to move along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the disk (10), substantially without rotating.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the resilient means comprises at least one pair of leaf springs (32).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 40 words
Device as claimed in claim 2, characterised in that when the leaf springs (32) are in their rest position, they lie in a plane substantially parallel to a nominal plane in which the second face of the disk (10) lies.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 38 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that, when at rest, the position of the second head (37) is such as to interfere with a nominal plane in which the second face of the disk (10) lies.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
' Device as claimed in claim 4, characterised in that, when at rest, the interference of the second head (37) with said' nominal plane lies between 0.3 mm and 2 mm.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 69 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, in which the arm (36) is movable in order to move the first magnetic head (30) from a rest position removed from the disk (10) to a working position in contact with the disk, so applying a predetermined load to the first head, characterised in that this predetermined load causes the second magnetic head (37) to sink, so deforming the resilient means (32).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 33 words
Device as claimed in claims 4 and 6, characterised in that, when in the working position, the interference of the second head (37) with said nominal plane varies between zero and 1.3 mm.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 37 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the second head (37) has a substantially cylindrical working surface (50), the generating lines of which are parallel to the axis (x) along which the carriage (20) moves.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 24 words
Device as claimed in claim 8, characterised in that the radius of curvature (R 2 ) of the working surface (50) exceeds 100 mm.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 46 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the second head (37) is fixed on to a support element (31) which itself is fixed to a first end of the resilient means (32), a second end of which is fixed to the carriage (20, 21).
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 39 words
Device as claimed in claims 2 and 10, chracterised in that the leaf springs (32) have their ends embedded in two plastics blocks (56, 57) which are cemented on the support element (31) and the carriage (20, 21) respectively.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 44 words
Device as claimed in claim 11, characterised in that the carriage (20, 21) and support element (31) are of plastics material, and are formed simultaneously, and kept connected together by a plurality of struts (52) which are removable after cementing the blocks (56, 57).
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 52 words
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the arm (36) is pivoted on a pin (33) which has a central cylindrical part (28) housed in a bore (29) in the carriage (20), and two onical ends engaged in bores (34) of two corresponding support lugs (35) of the arm (36).
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 37 words
Device as claimed in claim 13, characterised in that the lugs (35) are flexible 'and are spread by the pin (33) in such a manner as to take-up the slack between the pin and the bores (34).
