Abstract

Abstract A dispenser is disclosed for delivering an active agent to an aqueous environment. The dispenser comprises an internal compartment with a partition that divides the compartment into a first space and a second space. The first space contains the active agent and the second space contains a gel or an osmotically effective compound. An exterior wall of a microporous polymer, or a microporous polymer and a semi- permeable polymer surrounds the compartment.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 2
Claim 1
Independent Claim 122 words
A dispenser for the controlled delivery of an active agent into a fluid environment, the dispenser comprising an exterior wall surrounding and forming an internal compartment, a flexible partition in the compartment separating the compartment into a first space and a second space, an active agent in the first space and a swellable lightly cross-linked polymer or an osmotically effective solute in the second compartment, the dispenser characterized in that the exterior wall is formed of a microporous polymer when the second space contains a swellable cross-linked polymer, or the exterior wall is formed of a microporous and a semipermeable polymer with the semipermeable polymer surrounding a part of the second space containing a swellable cross-linked polymer or an osmotically effective solute.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 122 words
