Abstract
Abstract Plastics tubing (1) includes a first tube (2) having a series of formations (3) on the outer surface thereof, reinforcing material (4) applied on said outer surface, and a second tube (5) applied, for example by extrusion, over the first tube (2) and the reinforcing material (4) so as to entrap the reinforcing material (4) between the first (2) and second tube (5). The tubing of the invention requires less material than prior art tubing to achieve a given strength and is consequently highly flexible due to less material being needed for that strength.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
49 words
Plastics tubing including a first tube having a series of formations on the outer surface thereof, reinforcing material applied on said outer surface, and a second tube applied over the first tube and the reinforcing material so as to entrap the reinforcing material between the first and second tubes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
49 words
Plastics tubing including a first tube having a series of formations on the outer surface thereof, reinforcing material applied on said outer surface, and a second tube applied over the first tube and the reinforcing material so as to entrap the reinforcing material between the first and second tubes.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
19 words
Tubing as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the series of formations comprises a series of ridges, ribs or undulations.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
Tubing as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the series of formations comprises a series of ridges or ribs which are disposed longitudinally of the first tube and which define valleys therebetween.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
13 words
Tubing as claimed in Claim 3 wherein each valley is V-shaped in cross-section.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
34 words
Tubing as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 4 wherein the reinforcing material is a natural or synthetic textile yarn which is braided or lapped on the outer surface of the first tube.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
35 words
Tubing as claimed in Claim 3 or Claim 4 wherein the reinforcing material is a textile yarn, each or some of the valleys having received therein a piece of yarn running along the length thereof.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
18 words
Tubing as claimed in Claim 5 or Claim 6 wherein the textile yarn is composed of a polyamide.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
26 words
Tubing as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 7 wherein the second tube is applied over the first tube and the reinforcing material by extrusion.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
21 words
Tubing as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 8 wherein both the first and second tubes are composed of polyvinylchloride.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
51 words
Tubing as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 9 which further includes reinforcing material applied on the outer surface of the second tube and a third tube applied over the second tube and its associated reinforcing material so as to entrap said reinforcing material between the second and third tubes.
