Abstract

The invention relates to a method for reducing or completely eliminating the traces of grinding or scratching on the surface of a recording medium coated with a thin metallic layer, preferably consisting of aluminum, in which a 2 nm to 1000 nm thick layer of saturated metal soaps on the surface of unsaturated metal soaps or mixtures thereof is applied. The metal soap is selected from a group containing stearates, palmitates, oleates, linoleates, resinates, laurates, naphthenates, tallates and the like.
