Abstract

Abstract Amethodofandapparatusformeasuringinterfacialelec- trokinetic phenomena such as electrophoresis by applying stationary electric field to a sample, wherein the voltage between two points (50,51) in the sample other than the electrodes (30,31) for an electric current application is detected and an electric current is supplied to the sample to maintain the detected voltage constant, and the sample is preheated while the particles are substantially kept in a stationary state by applying an alternating voltage prior to the application of the stationary voltage, to thereby obtain the mobility of the charged particle in the sample with high accuracy.

Claim 5
Dependent Claim 64 words
A method of measuring interfacial electrokinetic phenomena according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that said step of controlling the measuring conditions includes detecting the voltage between two points situated between and other than at said electrodes in the sample to be measured, and controlling the current supplied to said sample so that the voltage detected between said two points is constant.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 28 words
A method of measuring interfacial electrokinetic phenomena according to claim 1, 2, 3 or 4, characterised in that the electrophoretic mobility of particles in the sample is measured.
Claim 7
