Abstract

The invention relates to a device by means of which an examination tube 1 is set in an oscillating movement in order to mix its contents. It has an annular holder 2, 3, in which the test tube 1 is suspended by means of a flange which extends outward from the test tube 1 in such a way that the test tube 1 can be pivoted in all directions from a substantially vertical rest position 5, the maximum swing-out is limited. At the bottom of the examination tube 1, a plate 9 made of magnetizable material or a correspondingly shaped permanent magnet is arranged on the outside thereof, the magnetic axis of which coincides with the axis of the examination tube 1. A plurality (for example four) of electromagnets 10 to 13 are arranged stationary, their respective first poles 10b to 13b lying at a certain distance in a horizontal plane below the lower end of the examination tube. They are arranged in such a way that the poles lie on a circle, through the center of which the axis 5 of the examination tube 1 leads in its rest position. The opposite second poles of the electromagnets are connected to a common magnetizable pole piece 15. and the electromagnets 10 to 13 are energized in a predetermined order and with a predetermined polarity, so that as a result of the interaction of the first poles 10b to 13b of the electromagnet and the magnetizable plate or plate-shaped permanent magnet 9 on the examination tube 1 with the first poles the examination tube 1 is set into a nutation movement about its vertical rest position, the apex of the nutation movement being essentially in the center of the ring-shaped holder (FIG. 1).
