Abstract
Abstract A method for emplacing a seal on a closure for a container which compnses depositing a foamed adhesive in liquid from on a interior surface of the closure and allowing that foamed adhesive to solidify and adhere as a solid cellular foam to the interior surface of the closure This produces a seal which is both cheaper and more resilient than a seal of solid material as has been used hitherto.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
95 words
A method of forming a seal upon the interior surface of a closure for a container characterised in that "a mixture of gas and molten, or liquid, thermoplastic adhesive is created, the mixture of gas and molten, or liquid, adhesive being then dispensed onto the interior surface of a container closure whereby a foamed molten adhesive layer or bead is formed upon said interior surface, solid foamed molten, or liquid, adhesive layer or bead, on cooling, is maintained as a foam to form a solid cellular seal adhered to the interior surface of the closure.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
95 words
A method of forming a seal upon the interior surface of a closure for a container characterised in that "a mixture of gas and molten, or liquid, thermoplastic adhesive is created, the mixture of gas and molten, or liquid, adhesive being then dispensed onto the interior surface of a container closure whereby a foamed molten adhesive layer or bead is formed upon said interior surface, solid foamed molten, or liquid, adhesive layer or bead, on cooling, is maintained as a foam to form a solid cellular seal adhered to the interior surface of the closure.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
46 words
A method as claimed in Claim 1 further characterised in that the mixture of gas and molten thermoplastic adhesive is pressurised to obtain a solution of the gas and molten adhesive, the gas being released from the solution after being dispensed to form a foamed adhesive.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
A container closure having a seal produced by a method as claimed in either Claim 1 or 2.
