Abstract
Abstract Sheet metal parts such as can covers, or the like, are deburred around the edges by an electrochemical treatment step in which the sheet metal to be deburred forms the anode in an alkaline electrolytic bath. The material removal is substantially limited to the location of the stamping burrs and edges around holes in the sheet material by controlling the current flow or current density in response to the physical size of the burr which is mechanically sensed and by properly limiting the duration of the current flow.
