Microfiltration device for filtering blood coagels and microaggregates
Abstract
Abstract In this microfiltration device, the filter chamber (6) exhibits, with increasing filtration effectiveness, at least two equally large increasing or decreasing filter elements (3, 4), which are cascade-connected in series and which are disposed one on top of the other in sandwich form or separated from one another by a spacer, standing or suspended, and the filter surfaces of which are designed to be cylindrical, frustoconical or in folded form and consist of surface filters or depth filters or combinations thereof, the device having a filling volume of less than 150 ml. The device is employed for the filtration of stored blood intended for transfusion and blood components. <IMAGE>
