Abstract

Abstract This invention is directed to vapour-burst fast food, the process for making said food, and the container in which said food is prepared. The vapour-burst fast food is prepared by heating a sealed confining means containing a suitable mixture until the confining means ruptures so as to permit the heated mixture to undergo sudden expansion.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 75 words
A method for preparing a food in which a suitable expandable mixture of food is heated in a confined space to generate an elevated pressure followed by sudden release of the elevated pressure, characterised in that a suitable expandable mixture of food (8) is heated within a confining means (1,3) at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient length of time to cause the mixture to expand sufficiently to cause the confining means to rupture.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 75 words
A method for preparing a food in which a suitable expandable mixture of food is heated in a confined space to generate an elevated pressure followed by sudden release of the elevated pressure, characterised in that a suitable expandable mixture of food (8) is heated within a confining means (1,3) at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient length of time to cause the mixture to expand sufficiently to cause the confining means to rupture.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the suitable expandable mixture contains water and starch.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
The method of claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the confining means is heated for from about 1 to 20 seconds at from about 250° F to about 450° F (about 120°C to about 235 0 C).
Claim 5
Independent Claim 40 words
An apparatus for preparing vapour-burst fast food characterised in that it comprises a confining means (1,3) containing a suitable expandable mixture (8), said -confining means being capable of rupturing when the confining means is heated and the expandable mixture expands.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 40 words
An apparatus for preparing vapour-burst fast food characterised in that it comprises a confining means (1,3) containing a suitable expandable mixture (8), said -confining means being capable of rupturing when the confining means is heated and the expandable mixture expands.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 17 words
The apparatus of claim 4 wherein the confining means is comprised of polymeric material, metal or ceramic.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 47 words
A foodstuff package characterised in that it comprises a mixture of food that, upon heating in a confined space, is capable of developing an elevated pressure, contained within a confining means that is adapted to rupture upon heating the package to develop a suitable elevated bursting pressure.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 47 words
A foodstuff package characterised in that it comprises a mixture of food that, upon heating in a confined space, is capable of developing an elevated pressure, contained within a confining means that is adapted to rupture upon heating the package to develop a suitable elevated bursting pressure.
