Process for preparing electrically conductive polyphenylenes and their use in electrical engineering and in rendering plastics antistatic
Abstract
Abstract The invention involves the addition of from 0.5 to 5% by weight of a strong Lewis acid having a pKa value of from -10 to +4 to conventional polyphenylenes in the absence of moisture and oxygen. Suitable Lewis acids are, in particular, the compounds AsF5, SbF5, HClO4, NO<+>SbF6<->, NO2<+>SbF6<->, NO<+>SbF6<->, NO<+>PF6<->, NO2<+>PF6<->, NO<+>BF4<->, NO2<+>BF4<->, NO<+>ClO4<->, (CF3)2SO4, 2,4,6-trinitrophenol, 2,4,6-trinitrophenylsulphonic acid or 2,4,6-trinitrophenylcarboxylic acid. The products obtained can be used in electrical engineering for the production of solar cells, for the conversion and fixation of radiation and for the production of electrical and magnetic switches and for rendering plastics antistatic.
