Moyens pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé, constitués d'un équipement de codage des informations de l'étiquette sous forme d'une presse (12, 13, 14) de découpage des encoches et d'un équipement de décodage desdites informations (49-64). Method for identifying animals or objects by means of a label (1) provided with directly intelligible information (4) and unintelligible coded information, eg in the form of notches (5). Means for implementing the method, consisting of equipment for coding the information on the label in the form of a press (12, 13, 14) for cutting the notches and equipment for decoding the said information (49 -64).
