Application of fluorescent dyes for light intensification

Abstract Translated from German Fluoreszierende Farbstoffe der Benzoxanthen- und Benzothioxanthen-Reihe, bei denen das Verhältnis der Absorptionsbandbreite zur Emissionsbandbreite groß ist und die eine gute Trennung von Absorptions- und Fluoreszenzemissionsbanden aufweisen, eignen sich zur fluoreszenzaktivierten Helligkeitsverstärkung, insbesondere für Flüssigkristallanzeigen. Fluorescent dyes of the benzoxanthene and benzothioxanthene series, in which the ratio of the absorption bandwidth to the emission bandwidth is large and which have a good separation of absorption and fluorescence emission bands, are suitable for fluorescence-activated brightness enhancement, especially for liquid crystal displays.
