Abstract

In the case of a system for interactive cable television, information distribution - e.g. 12 distribution programs per cable or 30 individual television programs without restrictions - in the total coverage area a tree-star network common to all coverage areas (I, II, III .....) and separate star-tree-star networks for each coverage area, to which the subscriber-related network level (E) is common in the star structure. In the top network level (A) between the control center (1) and the node points (2), all supply areas receive the same distribution programs via a common cable (X). Individual programs run to each node (2) via their own cables (Y) in the relevant supply area. A tree network (levels B, C, D) with parallel autonomous cables connects to each node (2) and extends to apron facilities (3). The subscriber connections (4) are connected to the apron devices (3) via simple cables (x). Return channels are routed through the distribution network. An additional cable (Z) can be provided in the top network level (A) to increase the return channel capacity.
