Rotary fence cutting unit
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a rotating cutter unit for a hedge cutter of the type that is used in particular for trimming live hedges (field hedges) and similar serial plantings, where the trimming is performed with a rapidly rotating cutter unit in the form of a beater disc or circular saw blade. The actual hedge trimmer is usually tractor-mounted and hydraulically driven from the hydraulic power take-off of the tractor. The cutter unit comprises a circular steel disc, the toothing of which consists of a replaceable chain-saw chain, which is fitted along the periphery with saw teeth facing radially outwards. A standard type of chain-saw chain is used, which by virtue of mass production can be purchased at relatively low cost. When the saw teeth of the chain are worn, a new chain can be quickly fitted and the work can continue. That is to say it is possible to work with teeth of optimum sharpness throughout the working day. The saw teeth can naturally be reground and reused. The cutter unit is characterised in that it is very easy and cheap to maintain, and because the cutting geometry of the saw teeth is ideally suited to the purpose the trimming efficiency is maximised. <IMAGE>
