Engine cylinder-head-cover joint - is joined to edge of oil-splash-cowl extending for full cover length
Abstract
Abstract The joint(1) for the cover has an oil-splash cowl(2). It is joined to the edge of the cowl, which extends for the full length of the cover, and typically along its inside edge and by means of lugs at intervals, there being vertical protrusions(4) on the joint with larger-diameter heads, passing through openings in the cowl. Alternatively the joint can be vulcanised or glued onto the cowl. It can extend round bearing brackets at the ends of the cylinder head, and the cowl can have openings forming snap-connectors to the cylinder-head cover. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple and precise positioning of joint between cover and IC engine cylinder head on assembly.
