Controller for servomotor or power-assisted steering gear - compensates for errors in measurement of manual steering torque by averaging for calculation of phase compensation
Abstract
Abstract The controller includes several sensors (3a,3b) to determine the torque exerted on the steering wheel (1), their output being averaged (904) to produce a signal for a phase compensation factor calculator (910). The compensation factor is supplied to a servomotor current controller (906) and a clutch controller (907), operating with feedback from motor current and voltage measurement circuits (903,911) respectively. The current controller supplies the motor (13) with additional power when a turning moment has been initiated by the driver. The power of the servomotor is maintained at a safe level even in the event of failure of either torque sensor (3a or 3b). ADVANTAGE - Precise detection of torque sensor output guaranteed with prevention of inexact or faulty error determn. due to interfering voltages.
