Abstract
Abstract In order to remove calculi from body cavities or body canals, the distal end of an endoscope shaft is provided with a reception pocket made of an elastomeric, stretchable material whose reception opening which points in the distal direction can be temporarily distended by a spreading device actuable on its proximal end in order to receive a body calculus. The spreading device can be pulled out of the shaft and replaced by a working optical system in order to introduce an ultrasonic sonotrode through the instrument channel of the optical system to the calculus for the destruction of the calculus in the reception pocket.
