Abstract
Abstract The contacles disintegration equipment is used for getting rid of kidney-stones. It uses focussed hydraulic shock-waves induced in water by electrical impulses discharges. The shock-generator is accommodated in a closed housing filled with water, and has a reflector focussing the shock-wave, opposite to which is a window formed by a membrane closing the housing. In conjunction with a wall outside the housing, the membrane forms an intermediate chamber filled with fluid whose resonance impedance corresponding to that of the kidney. The wall bears against the patient's body.
