Piston engine fitter in outer trough - has centring damper rings at ends of cylinder block coaxial to crankshaft
Abstract
Abstract The piston engine has a cylinder block with heads, pistons connecting rods, crankshaft and main bearings, forming an oil tight fit in an outer trough fixed to the flywheel housing with the aid of noise-insulating supports. The cylinder block (1) has at each end and coaxial to the crankshaft (6) damper rings (12, 12a, 13) centring it in the outer trough (7) and locating it in the axial direction. Between the block and the top edge of the trough merely an oil seal (14) is fitted. The trough can be divided in a transverse plane, and the rings can be of rubber bonded to metal, fixed on the inside to the block and on the outside to the trough.
