Ringer solution injection device - with non-return valves in pipes to syringe and heart catheter for better sterility
Abstract
Abstract An injection device for Ringer solutions during measurements of the blood circulation through the heart of a patient with a heart catheter includes a pipe system for a direct connection of catheter and infusion flask, with a branch to the hypodermic syringe. Non-return valves are arranged upsteam of the branch and downstream of it in the line to the heart catheter. This ensures that the Ringer solution can be injected under conditions which guarantee a lasting and reliable sterility. The hose from an infusion flask is coupled to a pipe system around an ice cube filled container. One outlet leads to a heart catheter. A T-branch leads to an outlet for an injection syringe. One non-return valve is arranged upstream of the branch, and another in the line to the catheter. The thermosensor of an injection probe protrudes into the pipe.
